Earthquakes rattled Oklahoma Monday. The biggest registered 4.5 and happened just after 1:00 Monday afternoon.

Five quakes were centered near Crescent in central Oklahoma, and even though it's more than 100 miles away, many in Green Country felt it, and some even have damage.

One midtown couple felt the quake, then, seconds later, they actually heard the ceiling overhead crack, but that wasn't the only damage.

Donald Stanton and his wife have lived in their midtown home for over 35 years, but Monday, as they sat in the front room, they felt something they never have before.

"All of a sudden the house, in that section, you could feel a tremendous shock and an enormous sound," Donald said.

His wife suspected it was an earthquake right away.

"It didn't shake very long, it’s just, you could feel the house settle and hear the crack in ceiling," he said.

When he looked up, he saw a crack that stretched all the way across the room. Then, after checking everything inside, he went outside and found a crack in the bricks.

“That's the only one so far," he said. "I could really feel it, so I wasn’t surprised, disappointed."

At Nick’s Tree Service in Broken Arrow, 20 miles away from the Stanton’s, Tracy Pearson felt the earthquake too.

"All of a sudden the room pressurized and it lifted all the ceiling tiles," she said. “I felt vibrations in the walls and I could hear, almost like a distant thunderstorm coming."

The computer screens shook and so did papers hanging on the wall.

"And I'm thinking I have to get out of here before this place explodes, I'm thinking this place is going to explode and there's going to be a big fireball come up into this place and blow it up,"  Pearson said.

She ran and hid behind a tree outside, bracing for the worst until she heard it was an earthquake.

"I actually feel relieved knowing it was an earthquake. That other people could identify as being an earthquake," she said.

Fortunately, no permanent damage was done to the office.

Stanton, on the other hand, plans to start his home repairs soon, after hearing his insurance company doesn’t cover earthquake damage.
