Tulsa Police said a man was hit by a car as he was crossing the 31st Street just west of Sheridan Friday night. The man was thrown about 25 feet after hitting the hood and windshield of a passing car.

He was taken to the hospital where he's expected to recover. Police say the driver wasn't doing anything wrong, but the pedestrian had been drinking and wasn't using a crosswalk. He apparently was carrying a can of beer when he was struck by the car.

"I think this guy was just so inebriated that he wasn't paying attention to what was going on around him," said Sergeant Ken Simpson with the Tulsa Police Department.

The driver will not face any charges in the incident, Simpson said.
