Investigators are looking for the cause of a fire that gutted the Ace Hardware store in Cleveland late Tuesday.
Firefighters saw flames shooting from the roof, and crews went inside, but scrambled out after hearing explosions.
It is mainly a metal building, not brick and mortar. The building, which has been on Broadway and Wichita for years, was a former Otasco and before that, a grocery store.
Early reports are that the fire stemmed from electrical issues, but the state fire marshal will determine the official cause.
The owners have had the store on the market for years and we're told they recently have been trying to close out the remainder of the store’s inventory in hopes of selling the real estate.
The store was destroyed, but we're told the business does have insurance.
