Union Middle School Students Build Zoo Observation Deck

There's a new observation deck at the Tulsa Zoo, and it mostly was built by middle school students.

Union Public Schools' engineering camp gave kids a chance to earn some hands-on experience.

That included things like teamwork and how to safely use power tools.

"I just find it really cool that you can just think of anything you want to do, you can draw it out, and you can just build it,” Union student Jarod Searcy said.

The deck overlooks the Siamangs exhibit, and is positioned to also overlook the future Lost Kingdom Tiger Exhibit that should be open in 2017.
