Police identified the man who was shot to death at a Tulsa motel, as well as a person of interest in the crime.
Police say the victim was Cedrick Gilmer, 27. They say Gilmer attended a party at the Studio 6 Motel at 8181 East 41st Street Monday night after posting on his Facebook page that he had a large amount of cash.
Detectives believe someone at the party contacted Roderick Whiteside, 25, and he decided to rob Gilmer. They say Whiteside arrived at the motel at 1:45 a.m.Tuesday. Whiteside got into a struggle with Gilmer and Gilmer was shot just outside the room, police say. He died at the hospital.
According to police, Whiteside ran away but then returned and left in the vehicle he had arrived in, a gold mid-2000s Chevrolet Tahoe with a broken window on its passenger side. Police say the window is covered by plastic.
Police have talked to one man earlier identified as a person of interest and released him.
