The National Weather Service office in Tulsa will determine if a tornado caused damage near the LeFlore County community of Poteau on Monday.
News On 6 storm trackers Von Castor and Darren Stephens were in the Poteau area Monday afternoon as severe weather moved through and said it appeared it was a tornado based on what they saw.
Trailer homes were knocked over, power lines were down and a cell phone tower was broken in half suggesting some very strong winds.
According to LeFlore County's emergency management, five or six homes are destroyed in the area and at least 50 homes have damage.
Five people were injured, but none of them seriously.
The Red Cross has an emergency shelter set up at the Poteau High School.
