The Oral Roberts picked up its sixth shutout victory of the year after dominating Western Illinois, 4-0, Friday night at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
The Golden Eagles connected on two home runs in the game, taking to wind out of the visitors early on with a three-run inning. Freshman sensation Matt Whatley extended his hit streak to 14 games with a leadoff double in the third inning. Matt Brandy picked up RBI number 37 of the year as he flew out to center field for the sacrifice fly that put ORU on the board. Anthony Sequeira would put an exclamation mark on the inning with a two-run blast to extend the lead to 3-0.
Noah Cummings tallied the only other run of the game after he delivered a monster shot down the left field line to lead off the sixth. It was his third career homer at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
Xavier Altamirano picked up the win for the Golden Eagles after tossing six innings and striking out four. Hayden Holly and Jacob McDavid threw three innings in relief allowing only two hits to shut down the Leathernecks.
Individual Leaders
-Mason Mantle finished with two hits in three attempts on the day, including a double. He was the only ORU player with multiple hits.
-Sequeira picked up his team-leading ninth home run of the year while Cummings delivered his fifth of the season.
-McDavid struck out two of the three batters he faced in the ninth.

-A leadoff double by Whatley followed by a wild pitch allowed Brandy pick up an easy RBI off a sacrifice fly to center field.
-Sequeira delivered a two-run shot to left field for his ninth homer of the season to make it a 3-0 Golden Eagle lead in the bottom of the third.
-Cummings connected on a no-doubt home run down the left field line to leadoff in the seventh. It was his fifth homer of the season to make it 4-0.

ORU will close out the regular season slate with Western Illinois Saturday at 2 p.m. at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
