Judge Rebecca Nightingale says a community group protesting the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office can begin collecting signatures for a grand jury investigation.

"We the People" wants to remove Tulsa County Sheriff Stanley Glanz from office, so it's petitioning for a grand jury investigation. On Friday, a judge approved the group's petition, giving the group 45 days to collect the signatures of 5,000 registered voters in Tulsa County.

If it gets those, a grand jury will be impaneled to investigate the group's complaints which involve the department's reserve deputy program and are connected to last month's deadly shooting involving Reserve Deputy Bob Bates.

If a grand jury makes a finding that Glanz should be removed, then a judge would hold a hearing to decide whether to remove him from office.
