An oil company with workers here in Oklahoma is cutting 11,000 jobs worldwide. Schlumberger won't release specifics about how the cuts will affect Oklahoma branches.
The company already cut 1,000 jobs back in January.
The company issued the following statement:
"Schlumberger is reducing its global workforce by approximately 11,000 employees. All geographic regions worldwide are impacted by the workforce reduction; however, we are not releasing reduction details for any areas or locations. The abruptness of the fall in exploration and production activity has made the sound management of our resources challenging - including the difficult decision to further reduce our workforce.
"As we move forward, we will continue to align our resources based on worldwide demand while delivering exceptional service quality to our customers."
