The rain we saw across Green Country didn't mean a thing for those who turned out for a block party today near 61st and Peoria on Saturday.

The South Tulsa Community House puts on this event every year as a way to bring communities together.

There was plenty of food, a raffle and face painting.

Some of the volunteers are ORU students and alumni who share a goal of revitalizing the area through economic growth and improved housing.

But this time, it was all about having a good time with your neighbors.

"It shows there are people outside the community that care about you,” Lenny Endicott said. “There are people intermixing with kids and adults and they are dancing and it is just a fun time."

The South Tulsa Community house serves as a one-stop shop for people living near 61st and Peoria. It offers help with things like job searches and it even has a medical clinic on site.
