Oral Roberts designated hitter/first baseman Anthony Sequeira was named The Summit League Baseball Player of the Week while ORU starting pitcher Guillermo Trujillo was selected as the league's Pitcher of the Week for their performances March 23-29.
Sequeira collects his second Player of the Week award this season after leading Oral Roberts to a perfect 4-0 record and into first place in the league standings. In a non-league win over UALR Tuesday, he went 3-for-5 with two home runs, including a grand slam, and a double. The senior had seven RBI and two runs in the game with one walk. He added a pair of hits in the series finale against Omaha Sunday with two RBI and two runs scored with three walks. For the week, Sequeira batted .429 (6-for-14) with 10 RBI, seven runs scored, seven walks, a pair of home runs and a double. He had a .929 slugging percentage and .619 on-base percentage for the week.
Trujillo earns his first career Pitcher of the Week honor after earning the complete game shutout win in Oral Roberts' 2-0 victory over Omaha Friday, which pulled the Golden Eagles into a first-place tie with the Mavericks. The junior right hander went eight innings and tied his career-high with nine strikeouts while surrendering no runs. He issued just one walk with five hits and did not allow more than one base runner in an inning.
