Weather Service Classifies Sand Springs Tornado As EF-2
The National Weather Service office in Tulsa classified the tornado which leveled a Sand Springs mobile home park Wednesday evening as an EF-2.

The National Weather Service office in Tulsa classified the tornado which leveled a Sand Springs mobile home park Wednesday evening as an EF-2.
The NWS says wind speeds in the tornado eventually reached 125-135 mph. It developed over Keystone Lake in Osage County at 5:25 p.m. and moved across Highway 412 near the bridge damaging homes, barns and a church along the way.
The weather service says it blew over a semi on Highway 412 as it continued southeast then crossed over the Arkansas River. It then headed east across the River Oaks Mobile Home Park.
The tornado crossed the river again as it headed to Sand Springs where it dissipated at 5:38 p.m. just before reaching Highway 97. The 800-yard-wide tornado was on the ground for nine miles.
The NWS says it found extensive wind damage east on Charles Page Boulevard. Winds estimated at around 100 mph uprooted numerous trees, damaging homes and businesses.
