Convicted Tulsa Burglar Arrested Again In Cavern Under I-44 By Same Officer

Police arrest a 30-year old man for a series of business burglaries in east Tulsa late Tuesday. The arrest of James Alexander comes a year and a half after his arrest for similar crimes.

On August 8, 2013, Tulsa Police officer Robin Mendenhall squeezed into a small cavern under I-44 near Garnett and found Alexander living in the crawl space and arrested him in connection with 14 business burglaries in the area. 

Shortly afterwards, News On 6 reporter Lori Fullbright crawled into the same cavern and got some exclusive video of  where Alexander had been living.

In January 2015, Alexander pleaded no contest to those burglaries charges. A judge found him guilty and gave him a deferred sentence.

This time, police looked at video surveillance from several recent business burglaries the same area and saw a man who looked similar to James Alexander. 

His family told police Alexander had not been seen in a while, so Tuesday evening Officer Robin Mendenhall again squeezed into the cavern under I-44 and found Alexander living there.

Alexander was booked into the Tulsa County jail on three complaints of second-degree burglary. Jail records show his bond at $15,000 with a court appearance set for March 24.
