Owasso police say a masked robber fired a shot at a customer filling up at a QuikTrip early Sunday. The armed robbery and shooting took place shortly before 4 a.m. at the gas station at East 96th Street North and North Garnett Road.
Lieutenant Mike Denton said the robber entered the store with a revolver, got money from the clerk then left. He fired one time at the customer who police say was starting to walk towards the store, apparently unaware of the robbery.
That man was not injured and left before police arrived, Denton said.
"We don't know who that person is; we'd like for them to call us," he said.
Denton said police were first told the man came and left in a red SUV, but after viewing surveillance video, police learned the robber was on foot. They called in a K9 officer to try to track him.
He was described as a black male in his 20s, 5'8" to 5'10" with a slender build. He was wearing a gray mask, gray hoodie with green lining, jeans, white shoes and gloves.
The video showed the robber leaving south and west from the store.
Deputy Chief of Police Jason Woodruff said officers and a K9 team searched surrounding neighborhoods but were unable to find the robber.
"OPD detectives processed the scene, and the investigation is ongoing," he said.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Owasso Police Department at 918-272-COPS.
