EagleMed Releases Name Of Pilot Killed In Helicopter Crash Near Lake Eufaula

EagleMed has released the name of the pilot who was killed in a crash Thursday night near Lake Eufaula and the names of the two injured medical personnel.

Matt Mathews died when the helicopter crashed en route from Tulsa to McAlester. Surviving are nurse Kim Ramsey and paramedic Ryan Setzkorn. In the photo above, Mathews is pictured in the center between Setzkorn and Ramsey.

There were no patients on board.

The helicopter went down around 11:25 p.m. on a 10,000 acre ranch located west of the lake, according to authorities. Crews arrived at the heavily wooded area and had to go on foot and by four-wheel drive to access the crash site. 

Friends say Setzkorn was in a wreck two years ago near Talihina.

A former patient said a year ago today, she took a life flight with the same crew and they are the only reason she's alive.

"Those are the people that saved my life," she said.

The patient said she went into acute respiratory failure and stopped breathing, and Matthews, Setzkorn and Ramsey made sure she survived.

"All so kind and calming like family; they just embraced me like family," she said. "I was scared not knowing what was going on coming in and out of it."

She is just one of many they flew to safety. Now she hopes to help them, by sending thoughts and prayers to the two survivors and to family of the pilot who lost his life.

There has been an Airbus AS350 Helicopter accident near Eufaula, Okla.

First and foremost our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those involved and our entire EagleMed family.

Nurse Kim Ramsey and Paramedic Ryan Setzkorn sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Sadly, Pilot Matt Mathews perished.

The company will work closely with the NTSB, which will investigate.
