The Sallisaw Police Department arrested a man accused of killing his own mother.
According to a news release, just before midnight officers responded to the 800 block of Ruth Street in Sallisaw after reports said a woman was dead inside her car.
When officers arrived, they said they found 56-year-old Karen Gregg inside her vehicle with, what appeared to be, a gunshot wound to the head.
Police said a witness driving by the area saw a man standing outside the vehicle and heard a loud “pop.” The witness believes it was a gunshot, the release says.
According to the news release, the witness gave a description of the man. That, along with evidence gathered at the scene linked backed to Gregg's son, Jessie Mosby, police said.
Investigators said they located Mosby at the home he shared with his mother. Police said they also found evidence in the room Mosby was found that related to the murder weapon.
According to the release, the possible murder weapon was found Tuesday morning in a yard on Druery Lane.
The 35-year-old Mosby was arrested for first-degree murder of his mother and booked into the Sequoyah County jail.
OSBI is helping with the investigation.
