Tuesday's warmer temperatures resulted in lots of melted ice, but colder air overnight allowed that water to refreeze.

That means city and state sand trucks are out Wednesday morning spreading salt and sand on icy patches across the Tulsa metro.

The City of Tulsa says its fleet of sand trucks were mobilized on Sunday and were still out early Wednesday.  Officials said as of noon Tuesday, they had plowed just under 9,000 arterial miles and had treated almost 10,000 arterial miles with close to 3,000 tons of salt.

The city says that leaves 7,500 tons of salt for the remainder of the fiscal year, which ends on June 30th.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation also has had its trucks out and are continuing to spread salt and sand on icy patches on area highways.
