A popular home improvement network is featuring Tulsa in one of its up and coming new series. The show is called Five Figure Flip.
It focuses on a Tulsa area couple who flip homes and hope to make a five-figure profit.
The home featured in the episode shot Wednesday is located in the Fulton neighborhood, an area that is getting older, but that home flippers say has a lot of potential - much like the Tulsa Market.
In fact, Tulsa's housing market is on the rise. It's an environment that investors say makes it a great place for a show like this.
This is not your average open house. That's because this is not your average home flip.
"I'll be excited to watch the show to see what it looked like before compared to what it looks like now," said mortgage banker, Bridgette Gale.
The HGTV show centers around Tulsa couple Daniel and Melinda Waife who buy fixer-uppers, make them like new and put them back on the market.
"There's not a lot of shows like this in the central part of the Midwestern region, so it's really good that there's a show up here which portrays the real estate market in this section of the country," Daniel Waife said.
Tulsa's real estate market has stayed relatively steady and has seen an uptick in activity the last few years.
That's why Gale said she thinks the TV series is a great way to showcase the local economy to the rest of the country.
"Tulsa is a booming market. It's not slowed down one bit. We're not seeing values go down, it's a very strong market," she said.
And flipping here is affordable.
“The good thing about the Tulsa area is we're able to get properties for a very low price and the cost of rehabbing and supplies is not that great, not that expensive compared to other places," Waife said.
Making prospective home buyers here excited for the opportunity to get in on recently redone homes; and even more excited to get the hometown they love on the national stage.
Waife said, "We just want to do Tulsa right and make people proud."
The new series, Five Figure Flip premiers in July.
