A driver is dead after a two-vehicle collision near Collinsville Saturday. Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the fatality crash.
Troopers tell News On 6 the crash took place just before noon on North Garnett (Old Highway 169) at North 12th south of Collinsville. An Oldsmobile Intrigue and Ford pickup truck hit head on at a Y-intersection.
Trooper Leonard McMillan said they believed the Oldsmobile was southbound on the highway when the truck turned onto the road.
The pickup then ran into a utility pole and flipped on its side. That driver has been taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
The driver of the Oldsmobile was killed.
McMillan said the investigation was still in its early stages.
"The hardest part of our job is to have to notify someone their loved one is not coming home today," said Trooper Leonard McMillan with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
"You never can be too safe on the roadways. Watch out for other drivers. Especially when it's raining, slow down," he said.
