Crews fought a grass fire outside Skiatook Sunday. Relatively warm weather and breezy conditions have created a high fire danger, according to the National Weather Service.

Chief Bryn Burgess, Skiatook Fire Department, told News On 6 about 60 acres burned.

Police have blocked off access with a road block at 133rd Street North and Russell, in a residential area southwest of town. The fire jumped 133rd Street, threatening nearby homes.

"We had a lot of equipment out there," Chief Burgess said. "We were able to bring it under control pretty successfully without losing any homes."

At least one outbuilding was lost to the fire.

Sperry, Skiatook and Country Corner departments were among those that responded.
