A woman was treated for possible smoke inhalation and numerous dogs taken by Tulsa Animal Control after an early morning house fire Saturday.

Fire officials say the fire in a small home near 1400 East King Street broke out around 8:30 a.m. Firefighters kept bringing dogs from the home; one estimate was 18 animals in all, according to the assistant chief's office.

Red Cross is helping the homeowner, according to Tulsa Fire Department. The cause of the fire hasn't been determined yet.

EMSA spokesperson Kelli Bruer said the man refused transport to the hospital.
