OSBI agents and Drumright police are investigating a man found dead in his home, early Friday morning. It's the first homicide in recent memory for people in Drumright.
According to OSBI spokesperson, Jessica Brown, around 2 a.m. Friday a body was discovered by family members in the 600 block of East 5th Street.
The body was identified as 64-year-old David Hunziker.
Drumright police and the OSBI were in and out of the house all day, searching for clues in the homicide. It took police all morning, noon and night to process the crime scene.
Next door, lifelong friend Jim Dinwiddie couldn't process the news.
"Blows my mind what happened to him 'cause I can't think of anybody that didn't like him. He's just a good person all the way around," Dinwiddie said.
He said the victim's wife found her husband dead when she got home, around 2:00 in the morning, from a late-night nursing shift.
She told Dinwiddie her husband had been brutally beaten.
"Something had hit him in the head," he said.
Dinwiddie said he remembers Hunziker as a thin, tall man with a long beard.
"I don't know of any enemies he'd had," he said.
He said his friend suffered severe back pain, and was nearly immobile, taking morphine and other prescription drugs.
Dinwiddie said he couldn't fathom why someone would hurt Hunziker.
OSBI is searching for answers and motive.
"Somebody come in and do what they done, I just can't understand it," Dinwiddie said.
They ask anyone that might have information to call OSBI at 1-800-522-8017.
