How many dogs is too many? In the Creek County town of Kiefer, the answer is three; any more than that and you're breaking the law.

Marc Fields found himself with nearly four times that many, and could wind up in jail if he doesn't find them new homes soon.

Fields has a house full of dogs. He started with two, then a third came along; a stray, Liz, got into his backyard.

"She's just a real little lovey dog," Fields said. "She mated with the black and white dog; I couldn't let her have the puppies under a bridge or something."

He took her in and she had eight puppies, a new total of 11 dogs.

Even though Fields gave away four of the dogs, having that many will get you a visit from the police, but when he told them he's found homes for four, they seemed happy.

"They were pretty satisfied we were making progress," he said.

There are still some healthy, well-fed dogs that Fields still has to find home for.

While Fields is taking good care of the dogs, the bottom line is he's got too many. There have been complaints and he got a visit from the police chief Monday.

"He said we've got a code and we have to enforce the code," Fields said.

It calls for a fine of $144 per dog, per day if you have more than three dogs.

"I'll give you seven days to do something or I'm gonna have to put you in jail," Fields said.
