Two Oklahoma classics are combining to sponsor a NASCAR event in March, 2015. The Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 will be held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 1.
The Sprint Cup Series Race is part of the weekend of racing that kicks off February 27 that includes a qualifying race and Camping World Truck Series Race.
"We are humbled at the opportunity to honor and support military members and their families and the commitments they have made to our country in conjunction with their event, which brings fans to Georgia from all over the country," said Atlanta Motor Speedway President Ed Clark.
Folds of Honor serves fallen and disabled military heroes by providing scholarships and other assistance to their family members.
"I have had a love for speed my entire life. To combine the speed of NASCAR with the powerful, life-changing force of Folds of Honor is simply beyond my wildest dreams," said Major Dan Rooney, founder of Folds of Honor.
The Patriot Cup golf tournament in Owasso benefits the charitable organization each year. Folds of Honor has raised tens of millions of dollars -awarding 9,000 scholarships - through events like The Patriot Cup.
"Thank you to QuikTrip for being a long-term partner to Folds of Honor and for fueling the future of our military families," Rooney said.
