The Christmas Parade was at 6 p.m. on Saturday, and organizers said more than 30,000 spectators attended the downtown event.

The moderate weather had some staking claim to a section of the parade route with lawn chairs and blankets.

Around 75 floats, several five-story-tall balloons and five marching bands rolled through downtown Tulsa, according to Paul Ross of American Waste Control, Inc.

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe, who protested the removal of the word "Christmas" by  boycotting the parade over the last five years, will be back on horseback in this year's event. Inhofe, a former Tulsa mayor, has ridden in the parade for decades until it became the "Holiday Parade of Lights" in 2009.

The parade route started at Sixth and Boston, went north to Third Street, turned west then turned back to the south on Boulder Avenue.

Fireworks were shot off outside the BOK Center at Third and Denver at about 7:15 p.m.
