Powerful Storms Expected In Green Country Sunday

A dense fog advisory has been lifted for eastern Oklahoma, though the Tulsa area still has considerable patches of the stuff.

Saturday morning conditions herald a few very powerful storm systems that will be impacting the state with the potential for some very wet conditions, according to News On 6 WARN Team Meteorologist Dick Faurot.

"As the storm system aloft moves across the state on Sunday, widespread showers and some thunderstorms will move from west to east and should be reaching us during the afternoon and evening hours," Faurot said in his weather blog.

"A few storms could become marginally severe with primarily a wind/hail risk."

Gusty southerly winds are expected both Saturday and Sunday with temps in the lower 60s for the Christmas Parade Saturday evening.

"Our shower chances are minimal though until the big storm arrives later Sunday," Faurot said.

Lingering showers should move out of the area Monday morning.

"That next storm system also looks to be very wet when it gets to Oklahoma with a chance of showers by Wednesday afternoon and again on Thursday. Right now, rain looks to be a good bet for Friday and perhaps into the weekend," he said.
