A Tulsa couple says they were scammed out of hundreds of dollars when shopping for concert tickets.
They thought they were buying four Garth Brooks tickets for $460 on a legitimate website, but they were charged $2,400 instead.
The couple called their bank the same day to stop the payment, but were told it couldn't be done.
The site where Jim Russell's wife bought the tickets says “Tulsa tickets” and “BOK Center” at the top. It has the logo, a picture of the arena, the BOK's seating chart and said the tickets were guaranteed authentic.
It said Garth tickets were $113 with the added service fee, so she bought four, clicked on the terms and agreements and put in her debit card information and the total said $2,400.
"Called my bank,” Jim Russell said. “[They said] ‘nothing we can do, it's a debit card.' I said, ‘Is it out of my account?' And they said no. I said, ‘Why can't we stop it?' You can't stop it. I said it's a false charge."
They told him because they agreed to the terms and conditions, the transaction can't be stopped or refunded and that it's not fraud.
"It's fraud,” Russell said. “I never committed to the $2,000. I committed to the 113 times four, if we ever see the tickets."
After talking to the folks at the website and doing some research to see this exact same thing has happened to others, he doesn't believe he's getting tickets.
He thinks all victims of these sites should band together, that it could even be a class-action lawsuit because it's happened all over the nation.
"I wish all people taken in this concert area would contact Channel 6 so everyone can get on the same page about these people," Russell said.
The BOK Center did warn people to only buy tickets from Ticketmaster or Garth's personal website.
And Jim is willing to concede they made a mistake by buying them through this other site, but he doesn't understand why the bank won't cover him for fraud, at least for the amount above the $460 he agreed to spend.
