Even with the Sooners being three touchdown favorites, a wild finish to Bedlam was almost expected. On paper, it was a mismatch. On the field, it was another Bedlam classic.
The Sooners went in looking for a nine-win season. Coach Mike Gundy and the Cowboys went in looking for bowl eligibility.
In the second quarter, OU was up 21-14. Aaron Ripkowski scored a hard earned 2-yard touchdown, increasing OU's lead 28-14.
The third quarter experienced a key moment when Samaje Perine, who had 151 yards rushing at this point, left the game due to a sprained ankle.
No worries, in the fourth quarter Ripkowski got his third touchdown of the game on a 1-yard run for another Sooners' touchdown. They now led 35-21.
The Cowboys didn't quit. Mason Rudolph hit Brandon Sheperd for a 43-yard touchdown, his second score of the day. The Pokes now trailed by seven.
With a minute left in the game, OSU roughed the punter, and Bob Stoops decided to take the penalty and re-kick to burn more time. That was a bad call. The very fast Tyreek Hill took off for a 90-yard touchdown return that tied the game.
OU got the ball first during overtime. The Sooners settled for a field goal, but kicker Michael Hunnicutt hooked it left from 44 yards. Now, the Cowboys just needed to score. Ben Grogan then kicked a 20-yard field goal to help the Cowboys win.
OSU stunned the Sooners in Norman, winning 38-35 in overtime.
