The Tulsa City-County Library announced Wednesday morning it has been awarded the 2014 "Oklahoma Quality Award for Pursuit of Excellence" by the Oklahoma Quality Foundation.
During a ceremony at Tulsa's Rudisill Regional Library, library CEO Gary Shaffer says they're very excited that they won.
"This is a milestone, I mean it was our first year going out and applying for the award. It is a very rigorous process. Oklahoma is considered to have one to have one of the more difficult to apply for the award. We are very excited that we placed and we won," said Gary Shaffer.
Shaffer said the award is affiliated with a national quality award called the 'Malcolm Baldridge award.' He said winning this award puts them on a path to win that one, as well.
