The University of Tulsa took on East Carolina Friday night at Chapman Stadium. The Golden Hurricane football team lost their last game of the season 49-32. They wrapped up with a 2-10 record.
The Pirates got on the board first, scoring a touchdown on minute mark 11:23. Tulsa then came back and scored soon after. With 9:54 on the clock, running back D'Angelo Brewer rushed for a five yard touchdown. By the 8:51 mark TU led 14-7.
Shane Carden, East Carolina's quarterback threw a 16 yard touchdown pass to Jimmy Williams, which tied the game 14-14.
Before the clock ran out, D'Angelo Brewer rushed for two yards to ECU's 49 for the first down. Going into the second quarter, Tulsa turned over the ball after failing to make a gain on 4th down. With 14 seconds left of the quarter, Carden threw a four yard pass to Justin Hardy for another Pirates' score. ECU led 21-14 going into the half.
TU scored early in the third, with a 35 yard field goal by Carl Salazar. Tulsa was now only trailing the Pirates by four. Within the next minute Carden threw a 12 yard touchdown pass to Bryce Williams, advancing ECU's lead 28-17.
With 5:52 to go in the third Evans launched a 30 yard pass to Keyarris Garrett for the score, followed by a successful two-point conversion. ECU then bounced back at the 5:19 mark with another touchdown (from Cory Hunter), advancing the Pirates lead 25-35 over the Golden Hurricane.
The final quarter got underway with the Pirates scoring again. Carden ran it in for a two yard touchdown, now leading 42-25. Following that, ECU's Brandon Williams returned a 37 yard interception taking a 49-25 head over Tulsa. TU didn't let the Pirates run away with the game, scoring with 6:41 left to play. Decreasing ECU's lead, TU now trailed 49-32. In the end, that was the final score.
