The Tulsa Zoo announced Tuesday the birth of a male chimpanzee.

In a news release, the zoo said Jodi gave birth to a baby shortly before 11:45 a.m. on November 23, 2014.

The zoo says this is the thirteenth chimpanzee born at the Tulsa Zoo since they began exhibiting the species in 1950. The last chimpanzee birth at the Tulsa Zoo occurred in 2007.

Zoo officials say Jodi and her baby are doing well.

The Tulsa Zoo says the two are part of the Chimpanzee Connection exhibit. The zoo says the baby is expected to cling to his mother for several months.

The baby joins the zoo's other chimpanzees who are named Morris, Hope, Susie, Bernsen and Vindi. The zoo hasn't picked a name for the baby yet.
