The driver of a semi wasn't seriously hurt when his truck ran off I-44 where it meets I-244 in west Tulsa Monday morning.
The incident happened at 7:15 a.m., troopers said.
They initially reported that the truck's right front tire blew, causing the driver to lose control. Later troopers said the driver fell asleep and the tire blew after the truck ran off the road and hit a concrete wall. According to the OHP, the truck left about 150 feet of skid marks on westbound I-44 before going off into the grass coming to rest next to a highway bridge concrete support column.
Troopers said EMSA took the driver to a Tulsa hospital complaining of back pain.
The OHP says no other vehicles were involved in the crash which was fortunate because the semi crossed three lanes of I-244 before going off into the grass.
Troopers said another driver was in the sleeper section of the cab and was not hurt.
