A special Oklahoma moment happened Tuesday morning at a Vinita Walmart when an Oklahoma veteran received a new home.
Army Specialist John Hill was presented with a 100 percent mortgage-free, newly renovated home as part of Project Rebuild, which helps combat-wounded veterans.
Hill lost his leg after a 2011 explosion in Afghanistan.
He was surprised with the news on Sunday after a special "Hunt Of A Lifetime" where he learned skills to help him make the transition back to civilian life.
As you might imagine, the gift left Hill stunned.
"Whenever General Sisco told me I was getting it, I just, I was amazed. I really couldn't believe it at all," he said.
Hill shared the good news in a Facetime call with his Mom.
The specialist wasn't just excited about his new home; he was pretty pumped about the hunt too.
“He's definitely a world-class trophy buck, that's for sure. So it's probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me,” Hill said.
His new home is in Midwest City.
That generous gift was made possible by the Military Warriors Support Foundation, Wells Fargo, and the Dr. Pepper, Snapple Group.
