Carving the Halloween Jack-o'-lantern is time consuming, and if you are not terribly talented, can be very frustrating.
Well one Tulsa family came up with an idea so simple you'll be saying “why didn't I think of that.”
Joe Descher and his family are big into pumpkin carving.
"I'd have to do ten to 12 of these a year, intricate design, I was looking for something easier," he said.
So a couple of years ago Joe and his wife started tinkering with an idea for that something easier.
Thanks to some Tupperware lids and a Dremel tool, they created an insert that can be placed directly into the pumpkins.
"You just put it up there, draw around it, cut your circle out, clean out the pumpkin and you're done," Joe said.
Now, Halloween suppliers who've been in the business a long time are saying, “Why didn't I think of that?”
"30 years 35 years in the business, they said the same thing. They said it was right there in front of us all the time, ‘why didn't we do it,'" Joe said.
This year was kind of a trial year, they made up 7,500 designs, put them on their website, EZ Pumpkin, and they were gone in two days.
"We had to shut the website down and begin taking orders for 2015," he said.
Sometimes the best ideas are the simplest ones.
