Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers captured an Oologah man they say crashed his motorcycle into a religious service as he tried to elude arrest.
John Steven Farmers, 29, is in the Tulsa Jail on numerous complaints including reckless driving, eluding, drug and firearm possession.
The chase started on the Broken Arrow Expressway and ended in a parking lot in downtown Tulsa, according to an arrest report.
An OHP trooper was westbound on the BA Expressway near 15th street when he clocked a red motorcycle going 91 in a 60 mph zone. He tried to pull over the driver who instead sped up to 100 mph and tried to exit onto Denver downtown, records state.
Farmers "crashed on the ramp into a crowded religious service being held in a parking lot," the trooper said in his report.
The Oologah man immediately stood up, and the trooper said he had to wrestle the suspect to the ground. Authorities say Farmers was carrying pills, plastic containers with marijuana, a smoking pipe with residue and a Ruger 9 mm handgun with an extra magazine.
He was checked out at a local hospital then booked on complaints of eluding arrest/endangering others, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of drug paraphernalia, and reckless driving.
He also was not licensed to operate the 2007 Kawasaki he wrecked, the report states.
