Tulsa-Area Man Killed Changing Flat Tire On San Antonio Highway

A Tulsa-area man was killed on a Texas interstate Monday night in an unusual accident.

KENS5.com reports that Brandon Smith was stopped on the shoulder of southbound Interstate 37 in San Antonio just before 10 p.m. He was changing a flat tire on his Ford pickup truck that was pulling a trailer that had two vehicles on it.

Investigators say the jacks gave way while Smith was under the truck. The 24-year-old Oklahoma man was taken to a San Antonio hospital by medical helicopter but did not survive.

His female passenger was also taken to the hospital and was able to tell police what happened. Her condition is not known.
