The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office told News On 6 a report of a car in the Arkansas River below the Keystone Dam was a false alarm.

Tulsa County deputies and several nearby fire departments responded to the Arkansas River off old Highway 51 after they received a call about a car going into the river at about 9 p.m.

Deputies and firefighters spend several hours looking for the car near the swift water park area, but suspended their search without finding it.

Deputies told News On 6 the water in that section of the river is only seven feet deep and when an airplane flew over the location Thursday morning no car was spotted.

News On 6 calls to the U.S. Corps of Engineers have not been returned.
