A Nice Few Days Ahead

The big upper level system that brought the rain to the state yesterday is well east and northeast of the region this morning. We're in great shape with pleasant weather expected for the remainder of the week. A weak boundary will move across the state Thursday but no significant low level moisture will be in place, and no precip will be in the forecast. Another system will drop into the southern plains early next week with a chance for some scattered showers and storms Monday. <?xml:namespac...

A mid-level ridge of high pressure will nudge into the state today while the surface low is positioned to our northeast.  The pressure gradient will remain strong this morning with gusty northwest winds for the first half of the day but will be decreasing later today.  This means our winds will be from the northwest this morning around 15 to 25 mph before decreasing speeds later this afternoon.  The cool fall air will remain in place this morning with temps in the upper 40s and lower 50s across the state, with maily lower 50s in northeastern OK.  Daytime highs will move into the upper 60s and lower 70s this afternoon along with plenty of sunshine and dry air.  A few high clouds will be likely this morning through midday in the east.

A slight warming trend will remain Wednesday after a chilly start in the mid to upper 40s.  Daytime highs will move into the mid-70s.  Thursday will be the warmest day this week with some locations nearing 80 across northeastern OK and even warmer across the southwestern part of the state.  The Thursday front will slide southeast during the day with a wind shift, but the low level moisture needed for showers and storms will be confined too far south of the state to interact with the boundary.

The weekend also appears very nice with cool mornings and mild afternoons.

Both the EURO and GFS have now trended toward bringing a Canadian clipper atop and east of the Intermountain ridge into the Midwestern portion of the nation Sunday night into Monday.  The eastern end of this system will push a surface boundary southward into the state Monday with a few scattered showers or storms.

Enjoy this great stretch of weather!

Thanks for reading the Tuesday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
