The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has closed down an intersection near the entrance of the Port of Catoosa because of a chemical spill.

The OHP said a truck loaded with a chemical identified as bleach lost eight barrels onto the roadway at the intersection of Highway 167 and Highway 266 at about 2:30 Monday afternoon.

The OHP said each barrel is a 55-gallon drum and two ruptured, spilling the contents onto the roadway.

Troopers working the scene said there is a minor inhalation hazard for anyone in the direct vicinity, but said no evacuation is necessary. The OHP said the chemical is moderately corrosive, but hazmat crews will contain the spill until a specialized team cleans the area.

The OHP closed the intersection at the Port and is diverting traffic in all directions. No injuries have been reported.
