For three days this week, the Tulsa State Fair becomes Oklahoma's Largest Classroom. Students and teachers from kindergarten through 5th grade are encouraged to go to the fair and work their way through a series of learning centers.
There are all kinds of opportunities to learn more about agriculture, animals, science and art at the Tulsa State Fair; one opportunity is cow milking.
Kids from a couple local schools were at the fair for Oklahoma's Largest Classroom. Dairy Farmer Ralph Keel was teaching them about where milk comes from.
“I told you she is a Jersey cow, this is a Jersey cow, below her is an Airshire, Milking Short Horn, Brown Swiss, Guersey and at the very top is a Holstein,” he told the kids.
Inside the Central Park Hall kids got to have some fun in a cookie stacking contest. They had to stack as many as they could with one hand behind their back.
Then, over in one show ring kids were parading their steers; in a lot of ways it's a beauty contest.
It's not all just fun in learning out at the Tulsa State Fair, during the 11 Days of Awesome it's also about the fun food, kinda like the donut cheese burger.
There's fun for all out at this year's Tulsa State Fair.
