A McAlester woman was injured when she was ejected from her car in a Pittsburg County collision on Saturday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol says.
Shelby Ellis, 23, was eastbound on High Hill Road when she departed the roadway to the right, overcorrected and left the roadway to the left. Her car hit the ditch and fence, rolled one-half time and came to rest on its roof, according to an OHP report.
Ellis was taken to a Tulsa hospital with multiple injuries, OHP says.
A 3-year-old child also was hurt in the crash but was treated and released.
The investigating trooper said the cause of the crash was due to inattentive driving and a distraction inside the vehicle, according to the report.
Ellis was not wearing a seatbelt, but the child was restrained properly, the trooper said.
