An escapee from a state prison in LeFlore County was recaptured a little over three hours after he disappeared from a work detail in Hodgen Thursday.

Caleb Bates, 24, who is serving time for convictions out of Johnston County, walked away from a work assignment outside the Jim Hamilton Correctional Center at 12:20 p.m. A prison K-9 officer located Bates at about 4 p.m. and he was taken back to prison.

Bates is the second inmate to escape from the minimum security prison this month. State prison officials say Forrest Devitt, 22, of Sand Springs, escaped from the correctional center on September 2, 2014. Devitt is serving time for a conviction out of Tulsa County.

Prison officials say Devitt has not been recaptured.
