A lightning strike and resulting fire damaged a Broken Arrow home early Thursday.
The fire department was called to the home in the 6100 block of West Birmingham Circle at about 6 a.m. after the homeowner awoke to the sound of the lightning strike and the home's smoke alarms going off.
Firefighters tell News On 6, a mother and her two children were home at the time but got out of the house safely.
A next door neighbor said he heard a loud boom while he was taking a shower. He said the boom shook his house and when he looked outside he saw smoke coming from the roof the home next door.
The Broken Arrow Fire Department extinguished the fire quickly after arriving a few minutes later. Fire officials say the home's roof and several rooms upstairs were damaged by the strike and the fire.
