Armyworms Invading Some Green Country Lawns

Some people in Green Country are seeing an army invade their properties; an army of worms and the soldiers are incredibly difficult to fight, even for professionals.

One newly installed Fescue lawn in Bixby was turned brown by the invasion of armyworms.

Lawn care professionals sprayed the yard to kill the pests after the homeowners said their lawn browned in just two days.

"The yard was just crawling. You can see the yard just crawl with worms, and hundreds and thousands of 'em just, and they're eating the grass, the green grass,” said homeowner Tom Lippert.

Lawn care pros said the worms migrate north from Texas and Mexico in the summer.

They said catching them early is key and the worms like Fescue the best, but also feed on Bermuda grass.
