The City of Sand Springs broke ground Tuesday morning on two development projects.
One is at Spring Lake Park at 129th West Avenue and 46th Street, where an old rock quarry used to be. The other is called River West on Morrow Road between Main and Highway 97.
River West will see retail development. There's already some interest from businesses, so Tuesday's groundbreaking was all about getting the property ready for the first tenants to build.
Crews are pulling up existing roads in the neighborhood so they can put in all the infrastructure that's needed.
"We're getting all the electric and all the sewer and the water into the developments so it'll be ready. If anyone signs and wants to come here they'll be able to break ground the next day,” said Mike Burdge.
There's already a Holiday Inn Express going up there.
Spring Lake is a new municipal complex for the city. The work should be finished in the fall of 2015.
