Oral Roberts University and Head Coach Scott Sutton have released the Golden Eagles' 2014-15 men's basketball schedule, a slate that includes 13 home games and an appearance in the inaugural MGM Grand Main Event in Las Vegas, Nev.
“We have put together what we think is a very challenging and exciting schedule,” said Sutton. “Our home schedule includes very good programs in Tulsa, Missouri State and New Mexico State, and we have road games that are close enough for our fans to attend. We are also looking forward to renewed rivalries within the Summit League.”
ORU will host East Central (November 3) and Rogers State (November 8) in a pair of exhibition games at the Mabee Center before hosting Tulsa for the PSO Mayor's Cup to open the regular season November 15. That date will also serve as the ORU Homecoming game.
A two-week road swing begins at Missouri (November 19) and will continue at Oregon State (November 21) as part of the MGM Grand Main Event. The tournament will continue in Las Vegas as ORU faces Louisiana-Lafayette in the first round of bracket play November 24. The second round of bracket play will be held November 26.
Finishing the five-game swing is a contest at Weber State December 1. The Golden Eagles follow that up with back-to-back home games, hosting Missouri State (December 7) and first-time opponent New Mexico State (December 13).
Back on the road for five of the next six games, ORU goes to Oklahoma (December 16), Memphis (December 20) and Missouri State (December 22) before hosting Haskell December 28. A trip to Detroit (December 30) rounds out the bulk of the non-conference schedule and ORU starts Summit League play January 2 at defending champion North Dakota State.
The lone remaining non-conference game is a home game against Tabor January 27.
After home games against the Bison (February 26) and Denver (February 28) to end the regular season, ORU will travel to the new Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. for the 2015 Summit League Basketball Championships, March 7-10.
