The principal of Spiro High School was arrested Monday evening on complaints of driving under the influence and carrying a loaded firearm while intoxicated, KFSM reports.
Tracy S. Saling of Bokoshe was stopped after a Poteau police officer noticed the 50-year-old man's vehicle crossing the center line several times, according to police records.
5News says Saling had slurred speech and smelled of alcohol when stopped. Saling reportedly had an open container of beer on the passenger floorboard and several unopened cans in the vehicle.
He informed the officer he had a loaded .40-caliber pistol in the vehicle, and the officer found it under the driver's seat. Saling is licensed to carry the weapon, but the officer told him it was illegal to have the gun while drunk, court documents state.
