A motorcycle rider died when his bike collided with a pickup on Keetonville Hill Wednesday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol says.

The OHP identified the man as Edward Hauser, 68, of Owasso.

Troopers say Hauser was traveling eastbound on his 2006 Honda at a high rate of speed when he went left of center on Highway 20 on the hill and collided with a westbound 1994 Chevy Silverado driven by Cecil Pilgrim, 72, of Claremore.

It happened at about 11:45 a.m. Keetonville Hill is about four miles west of Claremore and six miles east of Owasso.

According to troopers Pilgrim tried to avoid the collision but the bike hit the left front wheel. Pilgrim refused treatment.

The OHP say Hauser was wearing a helmet.

Troopers closed the highway to investigate the crash. They re-opened it at 1:45 p.m.
