Friday Is Last Day For Tulsa Public Pools

Friday is the last day Tulsa's public pools before they close for the season.

Berry and Lacy pools in north Tulsa, McClure pool in east Tulsa and Reed pool in west Tulsa will all drain the water and cover up at the end of the day Friday.

The City of Tulsa's Park Department says with children headed back to school soon and many lifeguards returning to college it's time to wrap up the pool season.

"It seems like once July starts coming and schools start coming up, the attendance starts dropping off, because people are starting to focus on school starting up again," said Rhonda Freiner with Tulsa Parks.

And because it's the end of the season, Tulsa Parks is giving swimmers an extra reason to come out and jump in.  On Friday everyone can swim for half price.

Berry pool will close at 5 p.m. Lacy and McClure pools both close at 5:30 p.m. and Reed pool will close at 6:30 p.m.  Whiteside pool closed last Saturday.

Park officials say splash pads and water playgrounds are scheduled to be open until Labor Day, September 1, 2014.
