People gathered in Creek County today for a trip back in time. The county courthouse in Sapulpa was built 100 years ago, and a time capsule was buried then too.
It was dug up Tuesday. The contents were inside a weathered copper box. There were newspapers, pictures and a few coins.
"The last person that touched that box was them 100 years ago. Here we are pulling it out to see what they left us. It's the anticipation of what's really there is the most exciting part about it," said Newt Stephens, Creek County District 1 Commissioner.
One of the coins is a 1912 nickel. Another is a token from a Sapulpa business open when the capsule was buried.
